Dreadnought
Piloted
by Matt Jackson the Hawker Sea Fury “Dreadnought”
flies down the Valley of Speed. With speeds upwards of 450 mph
the Sea Fury is one of the fastest piston powered motor vehicles
in the world.
Dreadnought
was built up from the airframe of ex-Burmese Air Force T Mk.20
V in the early 80’s by Frank Sanders who had the innovative
idea of putting a Pratt & Whitney R-4360 on the British built
aircraft. Debuting at the Reno Air Races in 1983, and piloted
by rookie Neil Anderson, Dreadnought finished on top in the Gold
Championship. Since then it has consistently placed near the top
in any air race event that it has entered.
