Loneliest
Road in America
From the Utah border and Great Basin National
Park in the East to Carson City and Lake Tahoe in the West,
US-50 stretches more than 400 miles across Nevada. The region
was mapped by early explorers, Pony Express riders raced across
it, and it was tamed by the long-distance Lincoln Highway. A
more scenic alternative to the mind-numbing I-80 that lies to
the north, US-50 across Nevada has gained a measure of notoriety
in its own right—it’s known as the “Loneliest
Road in America.”
