Ghost Towns & Historic Roads

The machine shop is one of the last remaining structures of the La Grange Gold Mining Camp. Located in California's gold country, near the town of La Grange, the camp supported a gold dredge operation responsible for taking millions of dollars worth of gold from the Tuolomne River. The camp was abandoned in 1959 when the price of gold no longer supported the dredging operation. Photographed 04/05
