The original railroad bridge at Mossdale Crossing in California's Central Valley, completed in 1869, was the first bridge to cross the San Joaquin River and the last piece of the transcontinental railroad to be completed. Replaced in the early 1940's, trains still cross the bridge but it is unknown when the last time the vertical lift bridge was raised. Photographed 03/08
