With a Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin flying above the USS Vandergrift (FFG 48) passes under the Golden Gate Bridge as it leads the Parade of Ships into San Francisco Bay during the 2007 San Francisco Fleet Week. The USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) was named for Gen. Alexander A. Vandegrift, U.S. Marine Corps, and built at Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle, Washington. The ship was commissioned on November 24, 1984. In March of 1990 the Vandergrift patrolled he Northern Arabian Gulf and conducted Earnest Will escort missions and served as the Anti-Air Warfare Commander and Electronic Warfare Coordinator.
