Fieldstone foundation walls are all that remain of the Telegraph City stables in Calaveras County, California. Originally called Grasshopper the town's name was changed to Telegraph City after the construction of a telegraph line from Stockton to Sonora was routed through the city. The town had a post office that operated from 1862 to 1894 but probably not much has happened there since. Today all that remains of Telegraph City are a few building foundations, a still working windmill, a single palm tree, and many miles of rock walls.
