Constructed in 1933 at a cost of $543,148 the Tuolomne Gold Dredge has sat idle since 1951. Located near the former mining town of La Grange, in California's Gold Country, the dredge weighed over 2500 tons and floated on its own self-created pond of water. The dredge's boom consisted of 120 buckets weighing 4000 pounds each that extended 70 feet below the waters surface. The total amound of gold recovered by the dredge is not known.
