Historic Front Street in Wells, Nevada. Built in the 1800's at the time of the Transcontinental Railroad, Front Street was typical of many towns built around the railroads with its main street facing towards the tracks. As the railroads declined and auto traffic grew the main route through Wells was moved a block south and became US 40. The main route is now Interstate 80 which lies to the south of the town. On February 22, 2008 a 6.0 quake struck the area near Wells destroying much of Historic Front Street. Photographed July 2007.
