Tom Camp taxies a General Motors built FM-2 Wildcat along the ramp at Stead Field, Nevada. Grumman Aircraft originally designed the plane in 1935 and was the first all-metal, carrier launched, monoplane fighter purchased by the U.S. Navy. Though it was outclassed by faster and more maneverable Japanese aircraft the little fighter performed well until more advanced replacements arrived. Photographed 09/07
